Joe's brother Isaac moved to Guam in early 2004 to try to help the island recover from the devastating effects of an invasive species of reptile: the brown tree snake. His mission is to seek out and understand the snakes to stop the damage they've done. And also to avoid bad mechanics, staph infections, and Robert Palmer's niece.

Since all of his family are in the States, we set up this weblog for Isaac to keep us appraised of life on the island. It makes for some very entertaining reading, whether you know him or not.

Having lost much of my cerebral capacity through chemical exposure at Superfund sites in Maryland, I needed a web-based journal that was extremely basic. Shoofly Design came through for me in spades. Although they often specialize in more sophisticated websites (with fancy programs, coding, graphics, and what-have-you), they produced a straight-forward site which allows me to do what I do best: namely posting the facts, direct from the field, to the reader. As an extremely experienced field biologist, with an immense (not to mention well-published), albeit highly flawed, body of research, it’s important for me to provide my latest insights to the scientific community in a timely manner. As you can see, Shoofly has created a beautiful site that allows me to post entries and photos in a clean, attractive fashion with little effort. Given, I sometimes forget my name or password when entering Moveable Type, but they can’t fix everything for me. — Isaac Chellman
